Poksuawang, a restaurant located in the bustling Jalan Ampang area, serves delicious mixed rice during the day and their famous toast grilled with real charcoal. Despite the unique offerings, Poksuawang was struggling to stand out in an area saturated with similar eateries, all competing for the same breakfast and lunch crowd. I was tasked with developing an innovative marketing strategy to elevate their brand and boost daily sales.

Challenges

Poksuawang faced significant hurdles in a highly competitive market:

  • Over-saturated restaurant scene: The area was filled with restaurants offering similar menus and operating hours, making it difficult for Poksuawang to differentiate itself.
  • Lack of visual presence: While their competitors were busy running their day-to-day operations, none had invested in an impactful online presence, which became a clear opportunity.
  • Limited awareness: Despite the quality of their food, few customers knew about Poksuawang’s standout offering—toast grilled with real charcoal.

Solution

To help Poksuawang overcome these challenges, I devised a marketing plan centered around amplifying their online presence and targeting the right audience through Facebook Ads:

  • Facebook Ads Campaign:
    • We crafted visually appealing and targeted ads showcasing the unique selling points of Poksuawang—its signature charcoal-grilled toast and diverse mixed rice offerings.
    • The campaign highlighted the freshness of the food, the authentic charcoal grilling technique, and the warm, welcoming atmosphere of the restaurant. Ads were optimized for reach and engagement, targeting food lovers in the nearby area.
    • The results were remarkable. Before launching the campaign, the restaurant earned around RM800 per day. After implementing the Facebook Ads strategy, daily revenue skyrocketed to around RM4,000.
  • Introducing a Delivery Website:
    • To further expand Poksuawang’s reach, we launched a user-friendly delivery website, allowing customers to conveniently order their favorite dishes from the comfort of their homes. While limited to the Jalan Ampang area, the website helped Poksuawang tap into the growing demand for food delivery.
    • The added convenience of online ordering, combined with weekend promotions, led to a surge in traffic, particularly on weekends, where the restaurant collected between RM9,000 and RM10,000 in sales.

Results

The marketing transformation for Poksuawang was a resounding success:

    • Daily revenue increase: The restaurant’s daily sales soared from RM800 to RM4,000, largely driven by the targeted Facebook Ads campaign.
    • Weekend sales boost: On weekends, Poksuawang’s revenue spiked dramatically, reaching between RM9,000 and RM10,000, with customers flocking to the restaurant for both dine-in and delivery orders.
    • Monthly revenue growth: As a result of the increased daily and weekend sales, the restaurant’s total monthly revenue grew to approximately RM120,000 to RM140,000.
    • Enhanced brand visibility: By leveraging their visual presence online and promoting their unique offerings, Poksuawang distinguished itself from competitors, securing a loyal customer base and boosting overall brand awareness.
