Introduction
Poksuawang is a restaurant in the busy Jalan Ampang area, serving mixed rice by day and toast grilled over real charcoal. Despite the unique menu, it struggled to stand out among similar eateries chasing the same breakfast and lunch crowd. I was tasked with a marketing strategy to lift the brand and daily sales.
Challenges
Over-saturated restaurant scene: similar menus and opening hours made it hard to differentiate.
Lack of visual presence: competitors had not invested in an impactful online presence, which was a clear opportunity.
Limited awareness: few customers knew about the charcoal-grilled toast.
Solution
1. Facebook Ads campaign
Visually appealing, targeted ads for the signature charcoal-grilled toast and the mixed rice
Messaging on freshness, the authentic charcoal technique and a welcoming atmosphere
Optimised for reach and engagement, aimed at food lovers nearby
2. Delivery website
A user-friendly ordering site covering the Jalan Ampang area
Online ordering plus weekend promotions drove a surge in traffic, especially on weekends
Results
Daily revenue rose from about RM800 to about RM4,000, largely from the Facebook Ads campaign.
Weekend sales reached RM9,000–RM10,000 across dine-in and delivery.
Monthly revenue grew to roughly RM120,000–RM140,000.
Stronger brand visibility set Poksuawang apart from competitors and built a loyal customer base.
